"I thought they stopped making phones." Trying to live blog with my Blackberry Bold 9930 was hard enough. Answering questions about my less than brilliant (but still typer-friendly) phone was really tiring. Yesterday's Expo theme was "Secure Communication," or "Communications made securely," or "Easy and Secure Communications." Legal vendors explained the wonders of encryption - "Secure socket layer" protects information between app and user. Take that NSA.
The attorneys I spoke with all had an interest in upgrading their websites and adding collaborative software. Pulling the trigger on such a change was another matter. Smaller firm owners had fewer qualms about the Cloud, having absorbed more than 2 years of Cloud promotion. The pace and volume of e-mail has taken a toll on small firms. Sending large files to clients who can't open them is problem that is recognized by more than a few firm owners.
Yesterday, I spent most of my time in the Start-up section. One company - Relationship Science - explained their approach to improve the networking abilities of lawyers. Relationship Science gathers a comprehensive history on influencers and shows how they could be linked to you. Sounded like Linkedin with more research. Great name though.
